My spouse and I visited Nemacolin Woodlands for a 3-day
weekend in mid-August 2018 in order to celebrate our 50th birthday.
We arrived on a Friday afternoon, checked into our amazing room at the Chateau,
attended a welcome cocktail party, and ate dinner at Rockwell’s (a steakhouse),
followed by drinks in their bar. On Saturday, we went Jeep off-roading,
followed by a BBQ lunch and then clay target shooting. Dinner was the chef’s
table in the kitchen at Lautrec, the resort’s fanciest restaurant. On Sunday,
we took a nursery tour and a longer zoo/wildlife tour, then had lunch and some
relaxation time before our final dinner at Aqueous, a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired
restaurant at the FLW-influenced Falling Rock accommodations, which adjoin
several golf courses. On Monday morning, we visited Fort Necessity, then took a
private tour at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Kentuck Knob. It was a memorable “big”
birthday weekend! We have wanted to visit both Nemacolin and Kentuck Knob for
years!
