Jamaica: Sandals Royal Caribbean (January 1994)

My boyfriend and I stayed at Sandals Royal Caribbean for six nights in early January 1994. The resort's decidedly British heritage begins with the majestic Georgian-style Great House, surrounded by manicured gardens and roaming peacocks, all complemented with well-heeled traditions like afternoon tea and games of croquet. Minutes away on the resort's private offshore island is an authentic Thai restaurant. Your vacation includes nlimited fine dining, unlimited scuba diving, land and water sports, seven pools and five whirlpools, five bars, premium drinks, and “stay-at-one, play-at-three” exchange privileges at the other two Sandals resorts in the Montego Bay area. (We visited the Sandals Inn and Sandals Montego Bay to enjoy a meal at Tokyo Joe’s.) We were lucky to leave Philadelphia on the morning of our departure - an ice storm rolled in, and ours was the last plane out that day despite our early departure. We ate at restaurants including the Regency, Royal Thai (on the private island), and the Courtyard. We took a day trip to Dunn’s River Falls. We tried to take the resort scuba-diving course; I couldn’t swim in the pool with the weight belt and gave up, but Glenn completed the course and planned to dive; however, he had a cold on the day he was to go. There were peacocks on the property that would eat from your hand.
