Farmington: CaddyShack (August 2018)

My spouse and I dined at the CaddyShack for an early lunch on a Saturday morning in mid-August 2018. The restaurant is open seasonally on weekends from April through October for lunch, dinner, drinks, and in-between. The CaddyShack is located close to the Adventure Center (about a 5-minute walk), adjacent to the Links Golf Course and next to the Fallingbrook miniature golf course (hence the restaurant name).

The interior of the restaurant offers seating on two floors (although the top floor wasn’t in use when we visited), as well as on a huge outdoor deck. Reportedly, live music is sometimes available, although not on the day that we visited. Guests can dine at the bar or at individual tables; decor features neutral walls, tile floors, and light-colored furniture. Golf memorabilia is displayed, particularly in the restaurant’s entryway, and the CaddyShack has more of an upscale casual feel than a sports bar. Disappointingly, the floor beneath our table was littered with small bits of a previous diner’s meal, which shouldn’t have been the case since we were the first customers of the day to dine in that spot when the restaurant opened at 11:00 am.

The CaddyShack serves barbecue-style cuisine. In fact, the restaurant has its own smoker and rotisserie that are visible in front of the building. We shared a smoked meat sampler platter, which included small servings of two choices of meats (we chose the pulled pork and the brisket [which was sliced very thinly like a roast beef deli meat but was tasty]), cornbread, and our choice of three sides (tater tots, cole slaw, potato salad). Although the menu did not state that the dish fed two people, the price of the platter was double the cost for any of the sandwiches, and our server confirmed that it would be adequate for us. (The sides were plentiful but the meat was a little light.) For dessert, we shared a slice of the rich peanut butter pie. (We were in a hurry to reach our next scheduled activity, or we would have ordered the baked-to-order skillet cookie sundae instead.)

We enjoyed our lunch at the CaddyShack; we find house-smoked meats hard to resist!
