Florida (December 2016 - January 2017)

My spouse and I visited Florida for 10 days in late December 2016 to early January 2017. We first visited my spouse’s family in Sarasota on the West Coast, then we visited my family in Deerfield Beach on the East Coast. We stayed in hotels at each of the trip, but also with our families in between. On Christmas Eve (Saturday), we flew from Allentown through Charlotte to Sarasota on American Airlines. On our return home after New Years, we flew from Fort Lauderdale through Charlotte back to Allentown, also on American. In between, I flew from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale, after an enlightening and entertaining Uber ride to the airport, whereas my spouse drove between the two cities (and according to the rental car company, damaged the car in the four hours that he used it!). In Sarasota, we stayed at the Aloft, and we tried a few new restaurants (Louie’s Modern and the Chart House) as well as a few old favorites (Mattison’s City Grille, C’est La Vie, O’Leary’s Tiki Bar, and Caragiulos). In Deerfield Beach, we stayed at the Embassy Suites (an old favorite), and we tried some new restaurants (Tijuana Taxi, Sicilian Oven, Tipperary Pub, American Rock Bar and Grill, Burger Craze, Two Georges at the Cove) as well as some repeat favorites (Southport Raw Bar, Oceans 234, The Dubliner). We enjoyed the warm weather, time spent with our families, and a few movies, (including “Why Him?”, “Hidden Figures”, and “Star Wars: Rogue One”).
