Deerfield Beach: Oceans 234 (December 2016)

My spouse and I dined at Oceans 234 for lunch on a Saturday afternoon (New Year’s Eve) in late December 2016. (We visited the restaurant previously because we have family who live in the area.) Oceans 234 is open daily for lunch (or Sunday brunch) and dinner. You can make a reservation using the Open Table online system or via telephone, although walk-ins are also accepted.

Oceans 234 is located in “downtown” Deerfield Beach near the intersection of NE 2nd Street and A1A (next to JB’s on the Beach, the International Fishing Pier, and across the street from Flanigans). You can easily walk to Oceans 234 from nearby hotels like the Wyndham and the Comfort Inn (and it although it a bit farther, you can also walk from the Embassy Suites, where we stayed). The numbers in the restaurant’s name indicate its address on A1A (North Ocean Boulevard). Many years ago, a diner called the Ranch House stood on the same spot. Oceans 234 offers valet parking, or you can park yourself in a nearby public lot or garage.

Oceans 234 lies adjacent to the beach promenade, so you can enjoy an ocean view from many of the tables. The 6,000-square foot restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating for about 220 patrons. Indoors, a large rectangular bar offers seating on all four sides and adjoins the rear dining room with regular-height table seating. Both indoor areas connect to the large outdoor awning-covered beachside terrace by retractable doors. (Outdoor seating cannot be guaranteed, even with a reservation.) The restaurant opened in 2002 and was renovated during the summer of 2015.

In addition to a full bar offering beer, wine, and cocktails, Oceans 234 serves continental cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. We shared the Vietnamese summer roll as a starter, then two entrees (fish tacos, fish sandwich), and followed by the chocolate trilogy for dessert.

We always enjoy the food, drinks, atmosphere, and view at Oceans 234.
