Deerfield Beach: Tijuana Taxi (January 2017)

I visited Tijuana Taxi Co with two family members for happy hour/early dinner on a Tuesday afternoon in late December 2016. Tijuana Taxi is open daily for lunch, dinner, drinks, and snacks. Tijuana Taxi offers three different locations: Coral Springs, Davie, and Deerfield Beach.

The Deerfield Beach location of Tijuana Taxi opened in late 2015 on South Federal Highway as a stand-alone restaurant in the Rivertowne Square strip mall shopping center (along with Beall’s Outlet, Winn-Dixie, and Buffalo Wild Wings, and across the street from Target). The restaurant is situated on the land previously occupied by Crabby Jacks, which was destroyed by fire in August of 2011. The restaurant has a fun, funky atmosphere that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors, you can sit at the bar or at tables or booths and in view of several TVs and surrounded by Mexican theming. Outdoors, you can sit at both booths and tables that are undercover of a roof that is open to the sides.

Tijuana Taxi Co. serves Mexican cuisine in hearty portions. Our waitress delivered complimentary tortilla chips and salsa as we waited for our entrees. Because it was “Taco Tuesday”, we shared three different types of tacos (ground beef, shredded beef, and chicken), all of which were served with sides of rice and refried beans for a reasonable $6.95 per person/plate. The restaurant has a full liquor license, including beer, wine, cocktails, and margaritas. Daily specials on different days of the week include kids night, Margarita Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, rib night, steak night, and Jack Daniels night).
