Deerfield Beach: Burger Craze (January 2017)

My spouse and I dined at Burger Craze for lunch on a Sunday afternoon (New Year’s Day) in early January 2017. Burger Craze is open daily for lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks. The restaurant does not accept reservations. You can park at a meter on the street or in a public lot, or you can park in the Wyndham Resort lot for a fee.

Burger Craze, which opened in March of 2014, is located on the street level of the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort. Other Wyndham restaurants include the Patio Bar (which faces the ocean), the Gelateria, and CafĂ© Med (which is adjacent to Burger Craze). Burger Craze overlooks the intersection of NE 2nd Street, NE 20th Terrace, and A1A (near JB’s on the Beach, the International Fishing Pier, and Flanigans). You can easily walk to Burger Craze from nearby hotels like the Wyndham and the Comfort Inn (and it although it a bit farther, you can also walk from the Embassy Suites, where we stayed).

Burger Craze offers seating both indoors (at the bar and at high-top tables) and outdoors beneath an awning (at regular-height and high-top tables). The panels of the front wall adjacent to NE 2nd Street can be retracted for an indoor-outdoor feel when they join the indoor and al fresco sidewalk spaces. The ocean and sand inspired the color palette, which includes an aquamarine-tiled bar, recessed semi-circular aqua ceiling, blue-lit bar back display shelves, coconut wall tiles, light hardwood flooring, and wicker high-backed barstools.

Burger Craze offers nearly 20 different varieties of burgers, as well as other American fare including appetizers (such as chicken wings, sliders, nachos), salads, soups, hot dogs, and sides (such as French fries, onion rings, and tater tots). You can choose to have your burger made of Angus beef or an alternative like chicken, turkey, black beans, salmon, and tuna. Classic burgers come with lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese, and you can add additional toppings for an additional charge. The Burger Craze burgers are affordably priced; however, they do not include a side item such as fries or tots. The restaurant has a full liquor license including draft and bottled beer, wine, and cocktails, and it offers weekday happy hour specials. You can also order a milkshake – available in either the kiddie or adult (spiked) version. We ordered a classic cheeseburger as well as the “Sunrise” burger (with cheese, bacon, and an over-easy egg) and a few rounds of drinks, including a delicious frozen Mudslide.

We enjoyed our casual lunch at Burger Craze both for its food and drinks and for its excellent people-watching.
