Atlantic City (July 2018)

My spouse and I spent the weekend in Atlantic City in mid-July 2018. We hadn’t visited the beach town together to spend the night in over 20 years! (However, we had each visited on our own for either business reasons or for a quick “casino bus” day trip.) We were excited to stay overnight at the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, which occupies the renovated Trump Taj Mahal Casino and Hotel. We got a great deal on a tricked-out, upgraded suite, which offered oceanfront views of the Steel Pier. We spent our time walking the boardwalk, stopping at a few beach bars, checking out the Steel Pier, the Playground (shops) at Caesars, and a few other hotels and casinos along the way, including Caesars, Tropicana, and Ocean (the old Revel); on our way out of town, we drove over to Harrah’s so that we could visit a marina hotel. We ate some good food at a variety of restaurants, including Japanese, Ecuadorian, Cuban, and American. It was a great weekend, and nice to see the work underway to revitalize the city.
