My spouse and I stopped at Bally’s Bikini Beach Bar for
drinks on a Friday afternoon in mid-July 2018. The bar is open seasonally from
11:00 am until 8:00 pm. It is one of several temporary bars (in addition to the
Tropicana’s Chelsea Beach Bar and the independently owned Bungalow Bar) set up
on the sand between Atlantic City’s boardwalk and the ocean. (Resorts LandShark
Bar and Grill is the only permanent beach bar, although it too has some
transitory elements.
The Bikini Bar is associated with Bally’s Atlantic City
Hotel and Casino. Patrons walk down a wooden boardwalk-like ramp to reach the
bar’s position on the sand, the flooring of which is also constructed of wooden
boards (therefore, ladies, wear either flats or wedge heels instead of spikes/stilettos).
Portable bathroom facilities are provided adjacent to the boardwalk. A
makeshift stage and large dance floor are onsite. Live bands and DJs provide
entertainment at specific times. As its name suggests, serves don very skimpy
uniforms; some were just not attractive on all the servers. (We think that
sometimes costumes with more coverage can be more subtly sexy that extremely
brief outfits.)
The bar offers all-day drink specials; for example, our
first round of two drinks totaled only $10. Specials include certain $4 beers
and specific $6 cocktails, including a “beach shaker”) a 16-ounce create-your-own
drink that contains your choice of alcohol and mixer served in a plastic
shaker/shot glass that you can keep as a souvenir), although even regularly
priced drinks are fairly reasonable at $8 to $12. Food is available; however,
the kitchen seems to be located in the hotel/casino, so basic pub food takes a
long time to arrive.
It was fun to do a sort of pub crawl along the boardwalk,
stopping at several beach bars for a drink.
