My spouse and I
and our tour guide and driver dined at La Capucine Botanic Café for lunch on a
Tuesday afternoon in late August 2017. The restaurant is open daily for
breakfast and lunch, with additional hours for Saturday dinner. We noticed this
restaurant as we strolled the main street between Monet’s gardens and the
village church.
The main
structure at La Capucine offers a vaulted beamed ceiling, with wooden tables
and chairs. Some original exposed brick and stonework provide interesting
architectural elements. The side of the main dining area can be opened to
adjoin an additional glass-enclosed atrium space. You can also dine outdoors on
an attached raised deck, or at small tables shaded by umbrellas and spread
throughout the garden. The expansive foliage-filled La Capucine property also
offers small ponds, a greenhouse, and a boutique, where you can purchase décor
and garden items to take home.
La Capucine
offers cafeteria-style dining, whereby you pass through a line, view and select
your food, pay for your meal, then carry it to a table to eat. The café offers
simple, reasonably priced local food that provides a good value for your money.
For example, we each purchased a meal that included a small green side salad, a
slice of quiche (or a small sandwich or wrap), and a non-alcoholic beverage (water
or soda) for 8 Euros. You could upgrade your beverage to beer or wine for an
additional 1.5 Euros. Credit cards are accepted. Our French guide, who had
never dined there before, proclaimed the quiche very good.
We enjoyed our al
fresco lunch at La Capucine Botanic Café.
