My spouse and I visited La Gitane for drinks several times
during our six night stay in Bayeux. The bar is open daily from lunchtime until
late. This bar does not offer any food for purchase, although you can buy
magazines and cigarettes on the tabac side.
The exterior of this bar was “classic French” to us, with
tiny round tables positioned between pairs of chairs that all looked forward to
enjoy the street view (unlike in the US, where the chairs would be positioned
on opposite sides of the table). Smoking outdoors on the sidewalk café is
permitted (even encouraged) at La Gitane.
On each of our visits, we spent about 25 Euros for a few
rounds of drinks (beer and cider).
We enjoyed our daily happy hour visits to La Gitane, where
we could sit outdoors and enjoy observing French life.
