Pittsburgh: Redbeards (September 2018)

My spouse and I visited Redbeards for drinks on a Friday evening in early September 2018. The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 am until 2:00 am. Redbeards opened in 2013 in the Downtown Cultural District on Sixth Street (in the space formerly occupied by Palazzo Ristorante adjacent to Olive or Twist). The original location of Redbeards is located on Shiloh Street on Mt. Washington. On the street level, a long bar provides a focal point, with a stacked stone bar front and additional stone accents on the wall behind it. Table seating is available adjacent to the bar, with additional seating on the second floor. Because this is a sports bar (albeit a clean-looking and seemingly family-friendly one), there are multiple TVs, as well as a painted mural border high on the walls that features famous city sports figures.

We visited Redbeards for drinks only; however, the restaurant/bar serves American pub food, including chicken wings, pierogis, loaded fries, nachos, flatbreads, salad, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and a few entrees. Daily features include taco night, wing night, and drink specials.

The atmosphere at Redbeards was casual, and a quick look at the menu listed some tasty items. We can envision returning for a bite on our way to a sporting event.
