My spouse and I dined at Southside 313 on a Sunday afternoon
in mid-June 2017. The restaurant is open Tuesdays through Sundays for lunch and
dinner, and is also open for dinner on Mondays (no lunch). You can park at
meters on the street in front of the restaurant, or at meters in the adjacent
side lot (parking is complimentary on Sundays). It was convenient to stop at
the restaurant after we watched a movie at the nearby ArtsQuest SteelStacks
Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema.
Southside 313 opened at 313 East Third Street in the space previously
occupied by Loopers. The narrow but lengthy room contains a long wooden bar in
the front half, with tables and booths in the rear. An outdoor fenced beer garden (with wood pergola
overhead) provides additional dining and drinking space in appropriate weather.
The restaurant interior
features a rustic industrial look, with high ceiling and exposed ductwork and pipes.
Dim lighting and burnt-orange painted walls create a cozy feel for
approximately 50 seated patrons. One wall displays a metal wall
sculpture of huge block letters that spell out SOUTHSIDE.
Southside 313 serves upscale American pub food. The menu
features a wide variety of appetizers, sandwiches, and burgers. We shared two starters:
the “nam” balls (pork meatballs with an Asian dipping sauce) and the deviled eggs
(which we ordered “half-and-half”: three halves with Asian-flavored filling,
and three halves with Italian filling). As our main dishes (the restaurant does
not offer any formal entrees), we ordered the all-beef hot dog and the pulled
pork sandwich, both of which are served with your choice of salad or slightly
seasoned French fries. The restaurant has a full liquor license, including
beer, wine, and cocktails, and it offers daily and happy hour specials.
We enjoyed our casual dining experience at Southside 313.
