Pittsburgh (October 2017)

My spouse and I visited Pittsburgh for the weekend in October 2017 in order to attend a University of Pittsburgh football game (NC State won 35-17). We stayed at a new hotel the Distrikt (which has since been acquired by the Hilton hotel chain). We dined at their excellent on-property restaurant called Or, the Whale (named after the subtitle for Herman Melville's Moby Dick). We also tried a restaurant in nearby Shadyside called Spoon, as well as a new-to-us restaurant Downtown called Ten Penny. After the football game, we spent some time at the National Aviary, where we particularly enjoyed viewing the penguins and the lorikeets. (Glenn also made a friend of an Amish man.)
