Ljubljana: Cutty Sark Pub (August 2016)

Cutty Sark Pub – British Pub in Historic Ljubljana

My spouse and I stopped at the Cutty Sark Pub for drinks on a Sunday afternoon in early September 2016. This bar/restaurant is located on a quiet side street (Knafljev Prehod) in Old Town behind Wolfova Ulica, near other bars and restaurants. The pub is open daily from 8:00 or 9:00 am until 1:00 am (with extended hours until 3:00 am as the week progresses). FYI, the original “Cutty Sark” was a wood-hull, iron-frame British clipper ship that ferried tea between China and Britain [and later wool between Australia and Britain] in the 1890s. The Scottish words “cutty sark” refer to the short shirt mentioned in the Robert Burns poem, "Tam o' Shanter".)

The Cutty Sark Pub is associated with nearby restaurants including Cantina Mexicana, Centralna Postaja, Buf, and Klub Cirkus. Cutty Sark is known for its live entertainment (music, comedy, open mike, DJ) and great parties. Happy hour specials are usually available. As a novelty, the pub offers an awning-covered pedal bicycle on which six people can ride and drink. The pub offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, the Cutty Sark offers a classic English pub atmosphere with seating at tables and chairs positioned near one of its two bars (one of which is brick). Decorative décor includes model ships and child-like artwork. Or you can also sit outside and people-watch on the front patio below yellow-windows set in ivy-covered walls. We enjoyed two rounds of drinks at Cutty Sark for a total of about $10 Euros.
