St Maarten: Taloula's Flights (April 2016)

My spouse and I enjoyed drinks at Taloula’s Flights on a Sunday afternoon in early May 2016. Taloula’s Flights is operated by the same family that owns Taloula Mango’s, the Blue Bitch Bar, and Darby’s by the Sea) in Phillipsburg. FYI: “Taloula Mango” is named after the family’s dog, “Blue Bitch” refers to a shiny rock used as gravel for mixing cement, and “Darby” is the name of another family dog.

Taloula’s Flights is located in the departures area of the Princess Juliana Airport on Sint Maarten. The three-sided bar is open daily, and offers bar stool seating only. You can carry your beer to a nearby table in a food court-type atmosphere; however, you must wait on yourself there because no table service is available, and in addition, you must pay as-you-go (you cannot run a tab as you can if you are sit at the bar and have provided a credit card). The only food available at Taloula’s Flights is simple bar snacks (such as packaged nuts and chips) and sometimes hot dogs (until they run out of stock each day). Because Taloula’s Flights seems to be the only bar in the airport (with the exception of the bar in the executive lounge), we expected the prices to be outrageous, but for four rounds of two drinks each (over a span of nearly two hours), our bill was under $30 US.

Be sure to enjoy your last vacation cocktail at Taloula’s Flights!
