My spouse and I visited the original Buza Bar on a Saturday
morning in late August 2016. “Buza” (pronounced “BOO-zha”) means
“hole in the wall”, and that is how you access this amazing place! Dubrovnik is

The
Buza Bar is nestled between the rocks on the Old Town cliffside facing the
Adriatic Sea. To locate
the bar, start from Gundulic Square and walk up the “Jesuit” stairs and turn
left. When you reach the City Walls, turn right onto Ulica Crijeviceva and
follow the walls, keeping the wall on your left. When you see a yellow sign that says "Cold drinks with the most beautiful view" (at approximately number 9),
follow the arrow, and the entrance will be on your left within the next few
feet. Bend down to pass
through an ancient doorway, and emerge on the side of the sea cliffs outside
the City Walls that surround Old Town.
Buza
Bar serves mostly beer and wine in plastic cups. Some tables contain
unique wooden holders so that the plastic cups do not blow away in the breeze.
Umbrella-topped tables cover several different levels of concrete, and the
various landings are surrounded by safety railings (unlike at Buza Bar II). The
lowest level leads down to the water, where you can use a ladder (or jump) into
the sea to take a dip. Even if you do not swim, local teenage tourists will
keep you entertained. Buza Bar has an outhouse with a chemical toilet if you
need to use “the facilities”.
Although Buza Bar might be a bit hard to locate, the drinks
with a spectacular view will make it worth the effort!
