My spouse and I ate lunch at Restoran Labirint on a Monday
afternoon in late August 2016. We noticed Restoran Labirint as we strolled the
cobblestone main street in Mostar’s Old Bazaar (Kujundziluk) on the left bank
of the Neretva River. The restaurant is located below street level (down a
flight of stone stairs) but with an excellent view of the Old Bridge. Labirint
can seat over 225 people in both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The indoor
dining room spans two levels, each of which seats about 40 patrons. The large
outdoor terrace seats 140+ guests at umbrella-shaded tables or under cover of a
roof but with two open side walls. Colorful flower (“window”) boxes hang on the
wrought iron railing overlooking the river. Restrooms are located on the lowest
level (two flights down from the main street). Restoran Labirint is associated
with the Hotel Bristol/Hetmos Mostar Hoteli.
Restoran Labirint serves both international and local
dishes, including seafood and grilled meats. As we read the menu, our waiter
delivered a basket of tasty thick bread slices. We shared the Plata Labirint,
which is a mixed grill platter that contains several different kinds of meat,
including minced meat (cevapcici), spiced meat patties (pljeskavica), grilled
veal cutlet, chicken kebabs, french fries, grilled vegetables, pita triangles
with red pepper relish, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The restaurant serves the
meat platter on a metal tray, which our waiter placed atop a warming grill to
maintain its temperature while we ate. The quantity was immense, better suited
for a party of four people rather than just the two of us. Although we are
hearty eaters, we could only finish half of the food that we received. Still,
there is always room for dessert, so we shared the hurmice (pronounced
“hoor-me-se”), baked dough soaked in sweet syrup. The restaurant has a full
liquor license, including beer, wine, and cocktails. Our entrée, dessert, and
three rounds of drinks cost 34 Bosnian Marks ($19 USD).
We enjoyed dining on Restoran Labirint’s tasty grilled meat
Plata Labirint while we enjoyed the amazing view of the Old Bridge.
