My spouse and I stopped at both locations of Bistro
Salvatore as we walked along the Old Town City Walls on a Saturday afternoon in
late August 2016. When we began our journey on a hot sunny day, we did not
expect to encounter any refreshments as we strolled along the wall, so we were
overjoyed to find these bistros in the most unexpected place.
Bistro Salvatore occupies two different spectacular
locations on the wall. Walking from the Pile Gate in a clockwise direction, the
first location of enjoys a dramatic sea view, with seating on an outdoor patio
promontory at high-top tables for two with high-backed chairs. The second
location also enjoys a water view and a glimpse at Lokrum Island, with seating
at standard-height tables and chairs.
Both locations serve coffee, freshly squeezed juices, beer,
cocktails, and ice cream (and according to some reviews, light fare such as
omelettes in the mornings and sandwiches in the afternoon, although we did not
see a menu). Each venue provides bathroom facilities for their guests. You can buy
local souvenirs at either bistro; however, the first location also includes a
small art gallery adjacent. We paid 84 Kunas ($12) for one round of drinks (a
beer and the house specialty Salvatore cocktail).
Be sure to stop at one (or both!) locations of Bistro/Caffee
Bar Salvatore to enjoy a break in an amazing setting!
