My spouse and I visited the
Cloudsplitter Gondola on a Friday morning in early July 2019. Each gondola can
fit 8 passengers who travel from the base lodge to the summit of Little
Whiteface Mountain in 15 minutes. At the top, visitors can hike around and
enjoy the panoramic views of the Adirondacks and the surrounding countryside as
far away as Vermont, New England, and Canada. A large wooden deck offers a
place to enjoy a picnic (there are no restrooms or food services at the top,
however). Visitors can also take a short hike up a small hill to visit the 10th Mountain Division monument. In 2019, the spring/summer/fall/gondola ride cost $21 with advance
purchase or $24 at the window; however, entry is included with the Olympic
Passport. (In the wintertime, you must be a skier to ride the gondola.) We
enjoyed our peaceful ride over foliage, ski trails, and steep rocks on the
Cloudsplitter Gondola to the top of Little Whiteface.
