My spouse and I and three family members dined at Il Punto
Ristorante for lunch on a Sunday in early August 2019. Il Punto is open daily
for lunch and dinner. Diners can reserve a spot using the online Open Table
reservation system.
Il Punto is located at the corner of 9th Avenue
and West 38th Street in Midtown West/Hell’s Kitchen. The restaurant
occupies a corner location, with windows on two sides of the space. The main
dining room includes a bar as well as tables in many shapes and configurations.
A private room is available for special events.
Il Punto serves
Italian cuisine. We ordered several starters: steak carpaccio (topped with
arugula and shaved parmesan), caprese (heirloom tomatoes with buffala
mozzarella), watermelon and cucumber salad, and spinach salad (with mushrooms,
artichokes, and bacon). As our main dishes, we ordered the spaghetti carbonara,
rigatoni with meat sauce, shrimp fetuccini with zucchini and tomatoes, a
chicken dish (topped with arugula), and
a fish dish. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, cheesecake, and a house
specialty, the Cuore
di Sicilia (homemade almond pastries filled with squash jam and topped with
mixed berries sauce). We were
celebrating two birthdays, and the restaurant decorated two plates in
celebratory fashion.
We enjoyed our lunch at Il Punto; the restaurant offers
quality food and service in an area where it is often difficult to find.
