My spouse and I visited The Continental for brunch on a
Sunday in August 2019. The Continental is open daily for weekday lunch/weekend
brunch, dinner, happy hour, and late night. Diners can book a spot using the
online Open Table reservation system.
The Continental is located on the top floor of the Playground
at Caesars. Part of the restaurant is located “outside” in the mall itself,
featuring a brightly-colored futuristic Jetsons sunken fire-pit lounge, bar,
and water feature, with the other half located “inside” and offering another
bar, seating at booths and tables, and overflow/large party seating in a
separate room. Restauranteur Stephen Starr conceived this restaurant concept,
which has another location in Philadelphia. He also operates restaurants in NYC
(Buddakan, El Vez, Le Coucou, Morimoto, The Clock Tower, Upland, La Mercie,
Pastis, Electric Lemon), AC (The Continental and Buddakan), DC (Le Diplomate,
St. Anselm), South Florida (LeZoo, Makoto, Steak954, Upland, and El Vez), Philadelphia
(The Continental, Buddakan, Pod, Alma de Cuba, Morimoto, Jones, El Vez, Barclay
Prime, Parc, Butcher and Singer, Pizzeria Stella, El Rey, The Dandelion,
Talula’s Garden, Frankford Hall, Fette Sau, Serpico, The Love), and Paris (Chez
La Vieille).
The Continental features international cuisine. For a
starter, we shared the cheesesteak eggroll (we’ve had better elsewhere) with
bell pepper, mushroom, onion, and sriracha sauce. As our main dishes, we
ordered the chicken and waffles (a great savory rather than sweet take on this
popular dish with boneless buttermilk fried chicken slices, white cheddar
cheese waffles, and Applewood smoked bacon gravy) and the huevos rancheros (a
better-than-usual version with black beans/lentils, chorizo, avocado crema, and
heirloom salsa).
We enjoyed our brunch at The Continental Atlantic City; the
food and service were good, and we liked the atmosphere.
