My spouse and I attended the AC Jokes comedy club at the
Tropicana on a Saturday evening in August 2019. The comedy club occurs several
times a week (on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) in the Kiss Kiss Nightclub
in the Tropicana Quarter on the third floor above Starbucks. An alternate
location for the comedy club (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) is
Anthem Nightclub on the third floor above Carmine’s. In addition, comedians
from AC Jokes appear at Bally’s and the Pier at Caesars on certain nights. Doors
to the venues open 30 minutes prior to the show, and seating is first
come-first served for general admission tickets, where patrons sit on folding
chairs arranged tightly in rows around the stage with nowhere to place their
drinks except on the floor. For an extra $15 per person, guests can buy VIP
seating, where patrons sit in the slightly raised roped off areas surrounding
the room on more comfortable booths, lounge furniture, and couches with small
cocktail tables nearby. We purchased the VIP seating tickets, which is also
first come-first served, but with a smaller population to contend with. VIP
seating includes table service, although there is no drink minimum required.
(Drinks were reasonably priced.) No food is served. The show lasts about 1.5
hours. There is no dress code for the comedy show, although one is instituted
afterward when the nightclub opens. Patrons can buy tickets online, but
sometimes discounts or comps are available at the hotel. We saw four comedians
on the night that we attended, three warm-ups and the main act, as well as the
emcee who was also a comedian. The crew of comedians also took tickets at the
door and escorted patrons to their seating areas. Regular wait staff worked as
bartenders and servers.
Restrooms are available inside the venue. None of the
comedians were particularly good on the night that we visited, but that
wouldn’t deter us from trying the club again sometime with a new group of
comics.
