Cusco: MAP Cafe (August 2005)
MAP Cafe is located inside the Museo de Arte Precolomb, he Plazoleta Nazarenas. Clashing brilliantly against the surrounding colonial building, this modern, minimalist glass-and-steel box in the middle of a cobblestone patio holds one of the city's most fashionable restaurants. The New Andean dishes served here are not as avant-garde as the glass-walled setting inside the Museo de Arte Precolombino. Instead, MAP Café emphasizes elegant preparations of classic regional dishes, or international preparations of local ingredients. This might be the only restaurant in the world where sara lawa, a traditional creamed corn soup, can be seen on the same menu as confit guinea pig legs.
