Pittsburgh (November 2018)

My spouse and I spent a very cold two-night weekend in Pittsburgh in early November 2018. We visited to watch the University of Pittsburgh-Virginia Tech football game, but we were also able to squeeze in a visit to the University’s fantastic Cathedral of Learning. We hadn’t visited the Cathedral for several years, and on this visit, we were able to tour the facilities many Nationality Rooms, which were already decorated for the Christmas holidays. We met some friends for lunch at The Foundry before the game, and had dinner later that evening at Or, The Whale (which is the restaurant for our hotel, The Distrikt) because it was just too cold to go back outside! (We also ate a nice breakfast at our hotel on Saturday morning; however, the restaurant doesn’t plan to continue that meal moving forward. [We woke up too late to make breakfast on Sunday.]) We tried a new restaurant called Talia Rosticceria, and we re-visited an old favorite called Union Standard. Fortunately it didn’t snow during the weekend, but it was windy and we needed to bundle up (with many layers, thermals, hand- and foot-warmers, etc.). We are looking forward to warmer weather next year!
