My spouse and I dined at The Perky Café for lunch on a
Saturday afternoon in mid-November 2018. The Perky is open daily from 11:00 am
until 2:00 am, with earlier opening hours on Saturday mornings at 8:00 am.
The Perky is located in the Phoenixville/Oaks area; we were
in town to see a movie at the nearby Regal Oaks Cinema (which was just minutes
away). The restaurant occupies an older-style house on a corner of a
semi-residential/commercial area. Parking is available in a surface lot that
surrounds several sides of the building
The interior space has two adjoining rooms, each with its
own bar. The newer-looking room has a few booths perched on a platform, with
some high-top tables adjacent, a bar, and a pool table. The second/older room
looked to contain only a bar (no tables), as well as the restrooms. This venue
has a nostalgic dive bar feel to it
The specialty of the Perky Café is smoked meats, although
they also offer burgers, cheesesteaks, and a few salads. We shared the chicken
nachos to start, followed by a pound of sliced smoked brisket with a side of
cole slaw. Although we enjoyed our time at The Perky Cafe, it serves a
different technique of barbecue than we prefer. (We like much thicker slices
with a more serious bark ring).
