My spouse and I enjoyed our farewell dinner at L'Adresse de Tinay in February 2013. Our dinner at Tinay, the most expensive dinner of our entire trip, cost $73 total for one shared appetizer, two entrees, one shared dessert, and four rounds of drinks. We had thought Tinay would be our best and favorite meal, but we felt that it was overpriced for the quality of the food (which is classic French, not modern). The restaurant is hip and attractive, however, with seating both inside and on a covered porch. L’Adresse de Tinay, a new restaurant in Vientiane, offers savory French fare like Cassoulet and Crème Brule in an intimate setting. After a promising start at the Lao Paris Hotel, L’Adresse de Tinay Restaurant moved in July 2011 to a beautiful two story house, in a quiet street close to the Mekong River behind Ong Teu temple. With the new location came a new concept and it wasn’t long before Lao French couple Tinay and Delphine, became a big name on Vientiane’s gourmet dining scene. With comfy chairs, modern chic décor, a laid-back atmosphere and a warm welcome, even the most seasoned connoisseurs are sure to be impressed. Accomplished Chef Tinay has worked his way up in the food world, working in every kitchen job imaginable over 14 years in France, making him the imaginative and creative chef he is today. Despite the wonderful setting, the incredible flavours and supreme elegance of Tinay’s dishes are the main attraction. The menu offers a range of graceful flavours and a refreshing take on traditional French dishes, such as their famous homemade Confit Duck Cassoulet. Run by a Laotian chef (who trained in France) and his French wife – the restaurant is a perfect spot for those times you’re craving rich comfort food (…and if you need a break from Asian cuisine).
