My spouse and I dined at Liberty
Union Bar and Grill late on a Sunday afternoon in early April 2016. We have
eaten at this restaurant several times since it opened in early 2012. The
restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily, with a buffet brunch on Sundays from
10-2 instead of the regular menu. Live entertainment is available on Friday and
Saturday nights. Reservations are available via the Open Table reservation system
or by telephone.
Liberty Union has several areas in which you
can dine: an outdoor patio near the front entrance (enclosed by a low stone
wall), two dining rooms just inside the front entrance, two bar rooms (one of
which contains a pool table), and a covered porch located off the main bar area
that overlooks Route 100. The restaurant walls feature a collection of signs
and placards from American’s best known iconic companies and national symbols. Many
TVs are present throughout the property.
Liberty Union serves
upscale-casual American food. In addition to standard menu items, each week, the restaurant
features one of our 50 United States, and then offers location-specific dishes
from that state. (The week we visited, the featured state was Georgia, and
there were appropriate drinks [one called “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”] and
food specials (for instance, a Vidalia onion blossom [we learned that to be
called a “Vidalia” onion, it must come from the state of Georgia].) Liberty
Union also offers repeating weekly specials like Tuesday night all-you-can-eat
crab legs, and a Wednesday night BBQ. On the afternoon that we dined, we
ordered from the regular menu. As an
appetizer, we shared the cheesesteak eggrolls (always tasty) accompanied by a
cheese dipping sauce. For entrees, we ordered a Liberty Union burger (with a
fried egg and sautéed spinach on top) and a turkey crunch sandwich (turkey,
bacon, tomato, Thousand Island dressing on grilled marble rye). The burgers and
sandwiches come with your choice of fries, cole slaw, or vegetable du jour
(which was broccoli that day), or you can “upgrade” to tater tots or a side
salad for an additional $1.50.
When we are in the area, we like
the casual menu and atmosphere at Liberty Union, and we like to dine outdoors
on a nice day.
