Ocean Echo, which opened in 2013, features a beachside
setting, with a semi open-air dining room. The restaurant offers a large bar
and well-spaced tables for dining. The restaurant features live music on certain
nights of the week, and the space is equipped to handle private events.
Ocean Echo offers international and Caribbean cuisine using
fresh local ingredients. We shared the curry chicken dumplings as a starter,
followed by two main dishes: parrot fish served with sweet potatoes and veggies,
and coconut-crusted shrimp and scallop with veggies and coconut sauce. Ocean
Echo was the only restaurant during our 9-day Caribbean trip that offered
parrot fish, so we were eager to try it. We thought that the both the scallops
and the shrimp would be coconut-crusted, but the scallops were simply grilled,
with only the shrimp encrusted with coconut; no matter; it was tasty just the
same! The lunch menu is less formal, offering salads, sandwiches, burgers, and
entrees.
We had planned to visit an alternate restaurant on the night
that we dined at Ocean Echo, but we preferred to return to the Mead’s Bay area
rather than drive to our previously selected restaurant in Sandy Ground, and we
enjoyed a pleasant meal.
