Hellertown: Crossroads Hotel (January 2019)

My spouse and I dined with two family members at Crossroads Hotel for dinner on a Saturday evening in January 2019. Crossroads Pizza is open daily for lunch and dinner.

The restaurant occupies the former Hellertown Crossroads Hotel, which was first opened in the 1950s and operated until 2016; the current iteration opened in late 2016. (The present owners also operate the Wagon Wheel Tavern in East Rockhill Township.) The restaurant occupies a two-story building on the corner of Main and East High Streets in Hellertown, although dining is available on the first/ground floor only. Patrons can sit in the bar (it has a full liquor license) or in the main dining room at booths or banquette tables or in an adjoining side room. A huge 20-foot taxidermy marlin mounted on the rear wall provides a focal point. (Fun fact: A relative of mine helped to catch the fish back in the 1980s.)

The Crossroads Hotel is famous for its thin-crust pizza, as well as its cheesesteaks topped with fried onions, pickles, banana peppers, and sauce and served on toasted rolls. We tried both on the night that we visited. The restaurant’s menu also offers burgers, hotdogs, pierogis, and fries.

The Crossroads Hotel has a loyal clientele who are dedicated to their cheesesteaks and pizza.
