My spouse and I
dined at Tagliata for brunch on a Sunday in early June 2018. Tagliata is open
for weekday lunch (or weekend brunch) and dinner daily. You can make a reservation using the online Open Table
system.
Tagliata opened in
August 2017 in the Harbor East neighborhood, located between Fells Point and
the Inner Harbor, near hotels including the Four Seasons, Marriott,
Homewood Suites, and Hilton Garden Inn.
It occupies the location of the former Fleet Street Kitchen.
The Atlas Restaurant
Group (which also runs nearby restaurants Azumi, Loch Bar, and Ouzo Bay)
operates Tagliata. The curiously named Italian Disco (bar/restaurant) across
the courtyard from Tagliata shares an attractive outdoor space that offers
high-top, bar, and lounge seating on a brick patio nestled between the two
buildings. (Unfortunately it was raining on the afternoon that we visited, so
it wasn’t operational.) The Elk Room (formerly called Ten Ten) offers private
dining for Tagliata guests. The front of the establishment features lounge
seating and a large bar.
The Tagliata space
has a rustic Tuscan farmhouse feel, with lots of wood, including on some walls,
ceilings, and floors. The tables and chairs are attractive and better-than-your-average
restaurant seats. An open kitchen and charcuterie area allow you to observe the
chefs slicing your meats, rolling your pasta, or cooking on the stoves. Flowing
curtains provide privacy and definition between the dining areas.
Tagliata offers
Italian cuisine, including house-made pastas and charcuterie, steaks, and
seafood. As starters, we shared the spring pea bruschetta (with ricotta,
peas, almost and nduja [salumi]) and the polpetti (meatballs with a crusty
slice of bread spread with ricotta), followed by the spaghetti and the
tagliatelle Bolognese (with a veal ragu). We were disappointed that only an
abbreviated dessert menu is available at lunchtime (no bomboloni), so we only
tried a single scoop of buttermilk cheesecake gelato (topped with a pizzelle
cookie).
We enjoyed our brunch at Tagliata; the space is gorgeous and
the food is delicious.
