My spouse and I dined at L’Alchimie for dinner on a weekday
evening in late August 2017. The restaurant is open Wednesdays through Sundays
during the busy season, but only on Fridays and Saturdays from November until
March. You can reserve a table via email. The restaurant has a Facebook page,
but it does not accept reservations on it. We stayed nearby at the Villa Lara,
and it was less than a 5-minute walk to the restaurant.
L’Alchimie, whose name translates to “The Transformation”,
is run by a husband and wife team. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating.
Outdoors, you can dine on the awning-covered sidewalk terrace, adjacent to the
street, which is pedestrian-only during the summer months. The smallish indoor
space offers lots of windows and light, making it an enjoyable place to dine.
L’Alchimie serves upscale French cuisine. As our starters,
we ordered the delicious gazpacho (topped with strawberry sorbet) and the
tartare de poisson (avocado and fish tartare). Next, for our main dishes, we
ordered the duo de thon (tuna duo) and the pluma de porc (pork loin). Along
with two rounds of drinks (2 beers and 2 sodas) and 1 large bottle of still
water (note that this was the only restaurant during our entire trip to France
that charged us for water without offering us an alternative “une carafe
d’eau”), our bill totaled 87 Euros.
We enjoyed our outdoor dinner at L’Alchimie: the service was
good, the food was tasty, and it was fun to people-watch while we dined.
