New York City: Dos Caminos Times Square (January 2020)

My spouse and I visited Dos Caminos Times Square on a Sunday afternoon in mid-January 2020. We had tickets to a Broadway show nearby, and Dos Caminos provided a convenient location close to the theatre. This location of Dos Caminos is open daily for lunch, dinner, drinks, and late night. Guests can book a spot using the online Open Table reservation system.

Dos Caminos has additional Manhattan locations including the Meatpacking District (we dined there in October 2011; see our separate review), SoHo, and Park Avenue. Dos Caminos is part of the BR Guest Hospitality Group/Landry’s Restaurants, which also includes the Atlantic Grill, Bills Bar & Burger (we visited the Downtown location in July 2016), Blue Fin (we dined there in September 2016; see our separate review), Blue Water Grill, Strip House, and Troy. BR restaurants are located in New York, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, and Chicago.

Dos Caminos occupies a corner location in Times Square on the ground floor of the W Hotel at the intersection of Broadway and 47th Street. The restaurant offers seating on both the window-filled street level (at the bar, at high-top tables, at a high-top bar rail, or at tables that share a banquette on one side) or in the basement (where there is a large bar, tables and booths, and casual lounge seating groupings).

Dos Caminos serves Mexican cuisine. As a starter, we shared the Tlacoyos, a sort of “Mexican Hot Pocket” of masa cakes stuffed with refried beans and cheese and topped with crema, cheese, and shredded beef. For our main courses, we ordered the Pork Belly Yucatan (yummy pork belly plated with pickled red onions, cauliflower, mole, and tasty pineapple butter) and the Dos Enchiladas (corn tortillas filled with chicken and topped with two sauces [mole and salsa verde] with a side of black beans).

We enjoyed our meal at Dos Caminos; it is one of the better dining options in the immediate Times Square area.
