My spouse and I visited the Biergarten on a Saturday
afternoon in August 2019. In season, the bar/restaurant is open daily for
lunch, dinner, drinks, late night, and everything in between. The establishment
is closed in the off season.
The Biergarten opened in 2017 on Atlantic City’s famous
Boardwalk between the Tropicana and Boardwalk Hall, adjacent to Bungalow Beach
Boardwalk Terrace (which shares ownership with the Biergarten). The Biergarten
offers a mostly outdoor environment that can hold up to 300 people in the
summertime. A bouncer monitors entry and checks IDs at the front gate, although
we did see some younger folks “inside” who were part of family groups. The
property offers an outdoor kitchen, two bar areas (one outdoor and one indoor
[which can be enclosed to offer protected space during inclement weather]), and
a game area (with games like cornhole). Patrons can sit at the bar, at small
regular-height tables, at a bar rail that offers a Boardwalk view, or at
picnic-style tables. Umbrellas offer shade from the sun.
As its name implies, the Biergarten offers cuisine with a
German twist, such as Bavarian pretzels, sandwiches, platters, a few salads,
and a raw bar. We shared the sausage sampler (bratwurst, brat ale sausage, and kielbasa,
served alongside pieces of sharp cheddar cheese and potato salad).
We enjoyed our al fresco experience at the Biergarten.
