Emmaus: True Blue Mediterranean Cafe (August 2019)

I dined solo at True Blue Mediterranean Café on a Thursday afternoon in August 2019. True Blue is open for lunch and dinner on Mondays through Saturdays (closed Sundays).

True Blue opened in November 2009 in a strip mall off Route 29 (Chestnut Street) in Emmaus (across the street from the Weis Market). It occupies the end position of a group of stores, providing some outdoor dining space in addition to the cozy interior. Guests can dine at tables and chairs as well as on stool at the “bar”. Décor includes golden-hued walls, tile floors, hanging pendant lights, and bookcases filled with tea- and coffee-making accoutrement and decorative objects.

As its name implies, True Blue serves Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine (the owner hails from Syria), but it also functions as a coffee shop, bakery, ice cream shop, and hookah lounge. I sampled the lamb kabob gyro, which was served with a small cup of hummus and crispy pita chips. The restaurant does not serve alcohol. Although patrons can choose to order at the counter, wait service is also available.

I enjoyed my casual lunch at True Blue Mediterranean Café, and I will return.
