My spouse and I dined at the
Lake Placid Pub and Brewing Company (LPP&B) on a Saturday evening in early
July 2019. The bar/restaurant is open daily for lunch, dinner, drinks, late
night, and everything in-between. Although the restaurant does not take formal
reservations, diners can use the Yelp Waitlist app for a sort of call-ahead
seating.
The Lake Placid Pub is
located across the street from Mirror Lake as well as across the street from
the Hampton Inn (where we stayed). The bar/restaurant offers three floors for
dining/drinking/entertainment. The brewery has been in business for more than
20+ years. The ground floor (the former PJ O’Neill’s) contains the brewery
(although most operations occur in Utica at Matt Brewing Company, where guests
can tour the facilities on certain days), as well as a bar and some outdoor
space. The second floor contains the kitchen, another bar, indoor seating, a
stone fireplace, and an outdoor deck. The third floor (the Hop Loft) offers
additional space, with a bar and more indoor and outdoor dining. The owners of
Lake Placid Pub also operate the Big Slide Brewery and Public House (near the airport
and on the way to the ski jump complex).
The LPP&B serves upscale
pub food like flatbreads, burgers, ribs, sandwiches, pizzas, and larger plates.
We shared the nachos as an appetizer (tri-colored chips toped with pulled pork,
pico, scallions, queso, and sour cream), followed by a Reuben sandwich (with
fries) and the macaroni and cheese (cavatappi pasta with a white cheddar sauce
and filet tips). Beer (especially its Ubu Ale, which is even part of the
restaurant’s URL website address) features prominently.
We enjoyed our dinner on the
second-story deck at the Lake Placid Pub and Brewing Company.
