My spouse and I visited the
Scullery at Grizle-Ts on a Saturday afternoon in early July 2019. The
bar/restaurant is open daily from lunch until late night.
The Scullery opened in early
2019 inside Grizle-Ts bar on Main Street in Saranac Lake The street-level
sports bar offers seating at booths and tables or at the long bar. In the rear
of the space, you’ll find the self-service kitchen window to order food from
The Scullery, with some high-top tables adjacent for dining if you do not wish
to sit in the bar. An outdoor deck is available in warmer weather, where guests
can sit at one of the few tables, or at one of the built-in wooden bar counters
along the railings. The owner’s dog, a gentle giant named Tubbs, was onsite on
the day that we visited.
The Scullery is a
self-service food offering; patrons order at the window, and the restaurant
provides customers with a buzzer that sounds when it is time to return to pick
up their food. Guests pay for their food and drink bills separately; one at the
kitchen window and the other at the bar.
The Scullery serves upscale
pub food. We shared the “pig shots” as a starter (chunks of bratwurst wrapped
in bacon and doused in barbecue sauce) followed by the “Michigans” (two hotdogs
served on toasted buttered rolls and topped with special sauce and diced raw
onions) and the “kim jong un” (a crispy chicken sandwich topped with Korean
slaw, mayo, cheese, and fried bologna), both served with truly delicious
housemade shoestring fries and sliced pickles. We also liked the homemade
lemonade served by Grizle-Ts.
We enjoyed our outdoor lunch
at The Scullery at Grizle-Ts.
