My spouse and I visited New York City for one night in
mid-October to celebrate our monumental 50th birthdays. We splurged
on a room at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park (actually, we remitted Marriott
points, but if we hadn’t, our standard room would have cost $800 per night!),
and then we really splashed out with a sushi dinner at Masa, known as the most
expensive restaurant in the country! We also enjoyed drinks at The Office at
the Mandarin Oriental (having already visited The Aviary in March of last
year). We were lucky to find a street fair that closed down Sixth Avenue, which
allowed us to walk from the Ritz to our lunch at Toloache prior to seeing
Wicked (which was amazing!). We also had lunch at Rosie O’Grady’s, followed by
the musical School of Rock (for which we won front-row seats in the lottery!)
It was a memorable big birthday weekend!Hotel:
