Keswick Tavern - Busy and Energetic Pub Atmosphere
My spouse and I
visited the Keswick Tavern (KT) on a Saturday evening in early November 2017. We
attended an event across the street at the historic Keswick Theatre, so we
stopped at the Tavern afterward for drinks and snacks. (Regrettably, the food
service ends at 11:00 pm, so we could not sample the cuisine.) Be sure to call
to make a reservation if you plan to dine before you visit the theater, because
the bar/restaurant gets extremely busy and crowded on event nights. The tavern
is open Monday through Thursday evenings (for dinner), and all day on Fridays, Saturdays,
and Sundays (for lunch, dinner, drinks, and in-between).
The Keswick Tavern
is located at the corner of Keswick Avenue and Easton Road in Keswick
Village/Glenside. Black-and-white awnings provide a decorative accent over the
windows, while a plain black complimentary awning with a tasteful KT logo and
the street number hangs over the main entrance door. Inside, the bar/restaurant
offers two areas: a rear (quieter) dining room, and the front (bar) dining
room. In the bar area, huge garage-door windows can be rolled back in
appropriate weather for an indoor-outdoor experience. Wood floors accent
wood-topped tables with black barstools and chairs. In the front area, you can
sit at the bar, stand at a bar rail, or sit at a high-top or communal high-top
table; additionally, wooden booths are arranged around one corner of the space.
Multiple TVs in the bar room let you keep up with your favorite sporting event.
On the busy Saturday evening that we visited, the majority of the clientele at
the tavern appeared to be young 20-somethings, with some patrons dancing to the
songs played by the DJ.
Although we did not
sample the food, we would return to the Keswick Tavern to dine next time we are
in town for an event at the Keswick Theatre.
