My spouse and I visited the Orange Blossom for happy hour on
a Sunday afternoon in early July 2016. The Orange Blossom serves breakfast, brunch,
lunch, and dinner. The Think Hotel Group owns the restaurant, in addition to
other hotels and restaurants in Miami. The Orange Blossom is the restaurant for
the hotel Boulan South Beach.
The restaurant is located near Collins Park on Collins
Avenue across the street from the Setai Hotel. The restaurant reopened in 2014 in
the space that formerly held the restaurant called Charles St. The owners
named the restaurant after the Orange Blossom Special, the luxury train that
transported Northeasterners to Miami from the late 1800s to the 1950s so that
they could spend the winter in Florida. After learning the origin of the name
of the restaurant, we were intrigued to research on our own, but we almost did
not enter this low-profile restaurant from Collins Avenue because it was
difficult to determine what type of restaurant its name represented. The
restaurant space is rather inconspicuous from the street and from its modest signage,
so be sure to venture further, because great things await just inside the door.
It features vintage print wallpaper, attractive lighting, and reclaimed wood. A
chalkboard wraps around the top of a post near the bar and lists juice
specials. Both table and booth seating is available, in addition to a few seats
at the drinks bar and several more stools at a communal dining bar.
The Orange Blossom serves upscale American cuisine and
specialty drinks. The cuisine focuses on fresh ingredients and
locally-sourced products. The Orange Blossom offers a daily happy hour from 4:00
to 6:00 pm, weekends included. We ordered from the happy hour food menu and
tried the tempura shrimp and the meatballs (served with a hearty bread). As
with most South Beach bars and restaurants, the Orange Blossom adds an
automatic 15% gratuity to your bill.
We enjoyed our time at the Orange Blossom, and we would
return for a complete meal sometime.
