Diamond Resort Playa del Carmen (January 1995)

My spouse and I stayed at the Diamond Resort for six nights in early January 1995. (Actually, we were just dating at the time that we stayed at this hotel; however, we became engaged on the beach at sunset on our first evening there! So I got my diamond at the Diamond!) This property is part of the Occidental Hotels and Resorts group. The Diamond Resort Playacar is located just 40 miles south of the Cancun International Airport, and only 10 minutes from the Mexican village of Playa del Carmen. The resort boasts of magnificent white sandy beaches with the crystal clear waters of the Yucatan Peninsula. The resort consists of 300 rooms contained in two-story Polynesian style thatched roof villas, with eight rooms per villa. All rooms feature one king size bed or two double beds, individually controlled air conditioning and ceiling fan, color satellite television, private bathroom with tub and shower, and safety deposit boxes. The resort features two pools and two restaurants.
